We are well into the second half of the year AND it’s Monday too, so you know what that means? Motivation Time.

Today’s topic: Trying something New!

Even though there is no perfect time like the present. I love the idea of a fresh start and it is awesome that a new month starts on the first day of the week.  Yes? No? Maybe so?

Anywho… Sometimes, We, as humans do, get bored with routine. Whether it’s ordering the same item on the menu no matter where you go, or having the same routine at the gym. We get bored. And when we get bored we lose the motivation and the joy of those things.  It’s important to spice things up, flip the script once in a while. Be adventurous.

Don’t know what to do? Here are some easy ways to switch things up and try something new:

1.       Instead of going straight for that one item on the menu, ask for the Special of the day. 

2.       Running every day? Pick a new route or go for a bike ride.

3.       Stale gym routines can plateau your body goals. Take a gym class. Even simpler, do your routine backwards (ie start from the end and work up to the beginning).

4.       Visit a friend you have not seen in a while.

5.       Visit a makeup counter or drugstore on your lunch break and try a new lipstick (if work permits)

6.       Going somewhere new? Invite a friend along. The comfort of someone familiar can help you step out of your comfort zone.

 

Here are a few new things I want to try this month

1.       Apply my own false lashes – A friend recommend this tool – Eyelash Extension Tweezers

2.       Take a Pilates class

3.       Remove wallpaper from my bathroom – I bought this tool recently – RUST-OLEUM 02966 Wlpr Remover Tool

4.       Visit an Ethiopian restaurant, I know there are a few in Baltimore

5.       Do something very different with the blog – I’m not sure yet but you will definitely see it. God willing.

Monday Motivation #3 | The Pep In Your Step

Happy Monday folks!!

Today I want to talk about how you can put some “PEP” in your step.  This is most especially for my people who are not morning people.  Using just one of these tips can mean the difference between an Ok Monday and a Great Monday.

1. Go to bed on time – Your monday’s may be dragging due to lack of sleep. 

2. Read a motivation quote, devotional  or blog post (shameless plug) before heading out the door. 

3. Time out for a 15min workout before you hop in the shower.  This gives a burst of energy just as nice as a cup of coffee. 

4. Have a cup of coffee.  Wakes you right up. I like to start drinking my cup 15mins before meetings so that I’m high on caffeine by the time I take my seat. 

5. Listen to music – Studies show that music has a strong effect on mood. Keep it fun and high energy. save the R&B for night time. lol 

 

One tip that has helped me the most —— Pray. I commit the day into the Lords hands and I know that whatver may happen, He’s got me.

TBT | Je Ne Sais Quoi

Today, sitting in front of the computer, it struck me. De ja vu.

I had this feeling a few years back… (I’m no oldie but I’d rather not say when). It was a day when I sat for a good hour, starring into the mirror. I wasn’t looking at myself. No, I’m much to humble for that (lol). I was looking at the person that everyone wanted, or thought, me to be.

 

Flash forward to today, and I find myself  traipsing down that very same path.

I have a number of possibilities for this melodramatic issue of mine:

  1. Sometimes I think it comes from my ability to adapt to any and every situation, after all, isn’t that the key to survival? Those who can adapt move forward, and those who can’t are… well..they just aren’t.
  2. Then again a social psychologist would tell me that I am a high self monitor and therefore (in an extreme case) serve as the reason for my loss of self. 
  3. My last and final attempt in solving this conundrum could lie in the fact that I am just a people pleaser. Not in the sense of a minion. NO…NEVER THAT.  I tend to be more accommodating to the needs of others than my own. You need to talk, I have an assignment due and here I am on the phone. You work better in a group, I study better on my own but here we are in Soper Library. You smell like onions, and I am gagging but I sit next to you because abruptly moving would hurt your feelings E.T.C.

What ever it is… and I still wonder what it is..

I have to get back to what makes me happy. I have to get back to that.. dare I say it…

That Je Ne Sais Quoi that I have come to know and love.

TBT | 400 or Less….

Hey bloggers,

So my goal for tonight’s today’s post is to update you on the life and times of, well, ME!!!

The trick is for me to do it in less than 400 words and so far I have used *Counts words* (41)

Lets get to it then…

1. School has started! Yay, Nay! I am almost 4 weeks in to my final semester as an undergrad. Right now it’s bitter-sweet I guess. I think the Highlight of it all is the fact that I’m taking another foreign language. Can you guess which one?! Nope not Spanish… It’s Yoruba. Course 102 to be exact. It’s been rather funny these past 3 weeks but I feel like I’m learning.  Sound’s like a future post, no?!  😉

2. Currently thinking about my future, and from the looks of my timeline, I will be a scholar for some time (lol). Getting a Doctorate will not be easy but I expect it will be loads of fun.

3. I have been searching for a creative writing class to take in the next 5 months. could be in the Maryland area or online so if any of you have an ideas pls let me know.

4. As of Wednesday I would have officially had my Braces for 6months… My, My teeth have moved miles… I was going to post a picture but unfortunately, My professional cleaning was postponed by a week…lol *Shrugs*

5.  My final thought for the day:  Summer is coming to a close and as I gradually put my lighter clothes away I get butterflies just thinking about some of the many things fall has to offer:

  • Starbucks Brings back their PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE: I remember when my parents never wanted us kids near a pumpkin because we did not celebrate Halloween..does this make me a naughty child?!
  • My fav. hoodies and jackets will rise from hibernation: I have a few layer remixes I’d like to try with them
  • MSU HOMECOMING!!!
  • Lower Energy bill. Thankful for Budget Billing 🙂
  • And more than I can think of at the moment.

 

Anyway..I wonder how I did?! (359)
